Arroyo's Manicurist appointment a smokescreen?

Why would you appointment a manicurist at the board of the government's housing agency? An economist like President Arroyo won't do anything that rash and irresponsible except if it was done intentionally. The president is a very good planner - she was able to thwart the effects of the world's recession through economic policies - so what's up with this? Was this done to get the media's focus on Comelec? All of a sudden, there's a stream of issues Malacañang has released: Midnight Appointments, Ampatuan problem, Lakas-Kampi problems, Chief Justice appointments, Comelec problems, Party-List nominee appointments - it's just numbing and I'm curious what this will be all about in the coming May 10 polls. Modern day kindness

What would you do to help out people stranded in countries because of a natural disaster? Use the web. CNN published this story, "Web links strangers helping travelers," today and instead of highlighting the benefits of the web and how it helped people. I wanted to highlight the kindness of perfect strangers helping out others going through the same crisis.

It is not about technology that makes this story remarkable for the web, twitter, or Facebook are just tools. It is the kindness in this modern age that makes this significant. Man and Women extending kindness to perfect strangers takes a lot of trust in an age of distrust. And we learn to extend goodness from a source other than teachers, friends, and family members. For they only learned it from somebody else too. Kindness is learned from the God and you can learn more from Him through the bible.

This is what I learned from God in teaching the Israelites about kindness:
"'If one of your countrymen becomes poor and is unable to support himself among you, help him as you would an alien or a temporary resident, so he can continue to live among you. Do not take interest of any kind from him, but fear your God, so that your countryman may continue to live among you. You must not lend him money at interest or sell him food at a profit. I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt to give you the land of Canaan and to be your God.'" Ref: Leviticus 25:35-38 (NIV)

Sign language for your kid

Last week, I relented to suggestions made by friends, family members, and books I read that I communicate with my Kye using sign language. I saw this site through google and it helps me teach my kid how to say "Good morning," "Good night," "Thank you," and so many other phrases you can make sure that - through actions - you communicate with your child.

Kopiko introduces Brown

I tried it this morning and it tastes a lot better than it's original Kopiko instant coffee (black packaging).I bet it tastes a lot better when you put ice in it to make your own Ice Coffee. Just an idea.

Foreign investors like Sen. Aquino to be president BUT...

I'm not a seer but I think everything will now go Sen. Aquino's way. I'm saying this because this news translates that this election is all about "good vs. evil" - sadly, again.

The epic battle between the good forces and the bad is dictating the way this Philippine election is shaping up. I will be hard pressed to say that the spirit of EDSA Revolution is upon this nation once again when all we think about is how good good is and bad is just bad. I lament how we cannot think further than that. I don't like the bad forces too but it seems like foreign investors like Noynoy because he is the preferred choice of the majority and if he wins there is peace. If there is peace there is unity and unity dictates how the people will go about their tranquil lives.

However, that will not be the case because Noynoy and his Liberal Party members do not have a platform to speak of. Sen. Villar's assessment was true when he said that a lot of shady Arroyo characters (describing Pres. Arroyo's men suspected of corrupt characters) are moving into Noynoy's camp but so is Villar's camp. They're both full of shady characters.

That's doubly bad. Shady characters plus questionable platform of governance equals questionable future. Just look at his website and see if his platform speaks of specifics. You will see that its full of nice words and promises - that's it. It's just sad to see that people will be voting for Noynoy because he is Pres. Arroyo's direct opposite - period.

Now, reading back the Philippine Star article further said that foreign investors want the future president to put a premium on "...policy programs on economy, education and trade relations." Huh?

If Sen. Aquino does not have a platform to begin with then who will do it? The Liberal Party's shenanigans? If so, one placed into power, they will start a "plotform" that may put this nation further to nowhere.

I don't question Sen. Aquino's ability but I question his capability to steer this country to the right direction.

Preferred vehicles of terrorists

Philippine Daily Inquirer's April 14 issue shows an image of a blown up van that the terrorists tried to use to blow up the school grounds during a graduation ceremony the day before. What the news media failed to show you (and tell us) is the familiar burned carcass of a high-end van popularly seen in Metro Manila. Isn't that that picture of the 12-seater, Hyundai Grand Starex CRDi model? Compare the pictures I attached to it and its unmistakably the nice-looking Korean-made van. Hyundai should be able to tell who bought the van and bring the perpetrators to justice. It's scary what the Abu Sayyaf group can buy these days just to be used for their bad activities.

Arroyo's kiss of death, now on Sen. Villar?

“And he (Teodoro) doesn’t believe that GMA (President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo) doesn’t know about this,” he added."

These were the words of an administration party senatorial candidate (Lakas-Kampi-CMD) when asked about, their Presidential candidate, Gilbert 'Gibo' Teodoro's resignation as Chairman of the ruling party.

The cat is out of the bag and the president of the country, Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, might as well admit who she is voting for in the coming Philippine elections. She will be hard-pressed not to admit this and we will see a lot of candidate falling out of the said party and we could see its demise in the very near future. Then again, I see the following drama taking place:

1. This could be the grand scheme to confuse the electorate and make them vote for Gibo. People love Gibo but her ties with the Arroyos is hurting his chances. That would bring in a lot of votes from Noynoy, Gordon, and even on Erap's camps. It's a risk but if he wins because of this, the Arroyos will still be part of the administration. It's win-win move with a risk.

2. Sen. Villar will see his numbers tumble because it was said before that the Arroyos endorsement is like the kiss of death and I know he doesn't like this. What will happen if his numbers go down (check number 1)

3. No one will vote for either Sen. Villar or Sec. Teodoro thus giving Sen. Aquino a definitive win that will still be under an Arroyo influence because much of her co-horts are now part of the Liberal Party, which is Sen. Aquino's party and/or she could be the biggest headache the next president would have if she doesn't get her way once she gets elected as congresswoman of the House of Representatives.

Either way, we'll see a huge drama unfolding right before the elections.
